SETTING UP EMAIL

If you are using an email system provided by JX2 Technologies, you will have a number of options regarding the setup of your account. The options are as follows:

  • Webmail - Access your email account from any computer connected to the Internet. Go to the website http://webmail.YourDomainName - where YourDomainName is actually the domain name that is the last part of your email address. For example, if the domain is JX2Tech.com, you would go to http://webmail.jx2tech.com. Login using your email address and password and use the system like a typical online mail service.
NOTE: if you use POP mail on multiple computers or a smart phone, you may want to leave a copy of your messages on the server for a few days to make sure all devices "pick up" your email.
  • POP Account - This is the most common type of email service. Many computers and smart phones use POP mail to receive email. To set up an account you will have to know the following information:
    • IN ALL CASES, YOUR USERNAME IS YOUR FULL EMAIL ADDRESS!
    • Incoming Mail Server = POP.YourDomainName (ie: POP.JX2Tech.com)
    • Outgoing Mail Server = SMTP.YourDomainName (ie: SMTP.JX2Tech.com)
    • The outgoing mail server requires authentication using your email address and password
    • Some Internet Service Providers will require you to change your outgoing mail port to 587
  • IMAP Account - This email service is becoming more popular because the email is actually kept on the email server and a variety of Internet-ready devices (computers, phones, notepads) can access the email without actually taking the messages off the server. Every device sees the email and can manage it at the server level. A word of caution, though... If you delete a message in the IMAP system, it is removed from the server. To set up an IMAP account you will have to know the following information:
    • IN ALL CASES, YOUR USERNAME IS YOUR FULL EMAIL ADDRESS!
    • Incoming Mail Server = IMAP.YourDomainName (ie: IMAP.JX2Tech.com)
    • Outgoing Mail Server = SMTP.YourDomainName (ie: SMTP.JX2Tech.com)
    • The outgoing mail server requires authentication using your email address and password
    • Some Internet Service Providers will require you to change your outgoing mail port to 587
